What Procedure To Follow If Tpha/syphilis Antibodies Test Is Positive?

hi! i also got a job for saudi. but i cant get my working visa yet because my TPHA test is positive. i went to a STD/HIV expert doctor for consultation, he told me that my condition is for life. it cannot be cured but it cannot be transmitted to other person as well. what should i do? is there any treament? may TPHA test result is 0.5 the cut off value that they use is 0.3. i hope you can help me. thanks and Godbless!

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

1.Have RPR test. It will be having the prognostic value following treatment.
2.You have to take the specific and appropriate treatment for Syphilis from a Dermato-venereologist according to the duration of Syphilis whether early or late.
3. TPHA once became positive remains positive for ever even after a complete cure. It is compared to a scar after wound healing. Just indicates your immunity against Syphilis and that you had syphilis. That is all.
4. Syphilis has a presumptive cure.
5. TPHA cannot be expected to become nonreactive even after a cure whereas RPR will become non reactive after 6 months to one year following treatment.
