What Procedure To Follow After Hitting The Head?

I hit my head (temple area) on a metal pole, around 2 or 3pm today. I was kind of stunned for a second, but didn t feel dizzy or anything. It hurts a tiny bit now, like a barely noticeable headache type of hurt. No bump or bruise though. Should I have it checked out?

Hi there and welcome,

Well let me assure you firstly as the symptoms you've mentioned here , suggestive of concussion injury to the brain.

All you have to do right now is to be at home, take rest and watch yourself strictly for the next 24 Hrs.

Bump/bruise may not appear in the very beginning but they tend to appear later on , so just apply some ice pack over the injured area.

Headache can be there for a few days depending on the force of impact, don't worry.

Try to avoid activities like outdoor sports/driving/ handling heavy machinery etc. for a few days. If at all you feel like those warning signs of head injury as you've rightly pointed out , then you need to check into your nearest ER and get a CT Scan of head done.

Once again thanks a lot for contacting HCM
