What Precautions Should Be Taken After A Concussion?
my grand daughter had a concussion yesterday which the doctor said was mild. Several weeks ago she had a concussion also. How will this effect her and what cautions must she take? She is in her first year of college, is a swimmer and is on the rowing team for the college.
-She needs to wear protective head gear during her physical activities and sports -Baby proof the house. I understand this may seem silly for an adult, but it is indeed important. Cover corners, build gates for the stairs, cover all hard parts of windows, etc. -Wear her seat belt always -Speak to her coaches, teachers, etc; about her concussions to everybody around her is well educated about the condition -Exercise regularly -Be alert and avoid medications that can cause her to have altered consciousness or drowsiness
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
