What Precautions Need To Be Taken For Weak Functioning Of Heart?

My brother has been told his heart is functioning at 15%. We thought he had a stroke last week, but they have done several tests and have decided his heart is really weak and only functions at the 15%. They are wanting to send him home with a heart monitor. Should he be sent home? He appears ok, but would he be able to care for himself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to the HCM
Dear since heart is itself a muscle ,which needs to be supplied by blood vessels to function properly. As there is incomplete history so it can not be understood that either there is muscle dysfunction (pericarditis) or vessel problem ((myocardial infarction).
I would suggest follow his treating doctor and if any doubt ,get second opinion from heart especialist that might need different investigations first.
Wish you best of health.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari
