Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns

Short answer : Exclusive breast feed till 6 months

Formation of milk in mother is stimulated by sucking and feeding by baby , more you feed baby more it is there for baby. Giving mother a balanced diet and treatment of deficiency of any nutrient will help in more milk formation. A course of medicines( for mother ) like cap lactare and tab perinorm can be taken after consulting your doctor to increase milk formation .

Formula feeding should be a last resort to feed baby , I strongly believe that if mother is determined to breast feed exclusively , there should be no hindrance in feeding baby . If despite all efforts there is need you can give commercially available formulas like lactogen 1 , Milk care starter with all hygienic precautions.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.

Wishing your baby and wife good health and all the best for breast feeding.
