What Marker Is Used To Check Throat Cancer?
hi My father has esophagus cancer and throat cancer . they were diagnosed in march. Dg.Ca planocelulare oesophagi et laryngis. Gastrotomia et tracheostomia facta. last blood test shows these results of tumor markers. CEA 3.59 Smoker Ca 15-3 10.25 CA 72-4 1.24 my question is are those right markers doctors took? thanks Vivian

The diagnosis of cancer in the esophagus has already been in established in your father, probably by doing endoscopy and taking a biopsy from the growth detected on endoscopy.
Malignancy markers such as CEA are used to study whether the malignancy remains stationary or subsides or is progressing. Comparisons are made in the serial study of the Marker results in that particular patient.
What the doctor is doing is perfectly right.
