What Is This Pain In My Gland?

I had a salvary gland infection diagnosed by an ENT back in May . It was treated with antibiotics. The lump went awa but I still feel something with minor discomfort. I then saw an oral surgeon who say or felt nothing. Checked all the major glands but yet I have a dull pain under jawline to my ear. It does become worse at times but most times bearable just annoying. What could this be?

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that you have swollen lymph nodes which must have occurred due to infection in the salivary gland and this must be a cause of pain as the swelling of the lymph nodes do not subside immediately after the resolution of infection in some cases and can take a longer time to subside..

It can also be unrelated to the past infection and it can be due to Pericoronitis in case if you have a wisdom tooth erupting and the gum flap over it may get inflamed due to infection or being bitten by the opposite jaw tooth and it can cause pain in jaw pain that can radiate to ear..
Pain under jaw can be due to inflamed lymph node as a result of Pericoronitis..
It can also be due to clogged duct of salivary gland due to formation of crystalline stones from minerals present in saliva and is commonly seen after salivary gland infections, but it is commonly associated with some swelling in the salivary gland..

You should consult an ORAL PHYSICIAN and get evaluated and an MRI SCAN of the salivary gland or a lymph node biopsy as per the requirement can be done to rule out the exact cause of the pain while in case of wisdom tooth problem xray can be done to find out whether it is impacted or will erupt completely and treatment will be planned accordingly..

Hope this information helps..
