What Is The Whitish Skin With Itching On My Hip?
I am a black female and around my left hip area the skin color has turned to an off-white color and it looks like the area had indented and folded in on itself, like it caved in. It does not itch or burn and up until a week ago, I hadnt noticed it until someone pointed it out. Could it be serious?

Whitish skin color at the hip area is commonly due to stretch mark as a result of pregnancy or obesity. It can also be due to skin eczema, fungal infection by Tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor that causes hypopigmentation of the skin. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Take regular baths, wear cotton clothes and wash all your clothes in hot water frequently. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist to detect if it is eczema or fungal infection.
If it is due to fungal infection you will be treated with antifungal ointments and a course of oral antifungals. If it is diagnosed as eczema or Vitiligo, it will be treated accordingly. To get rid of itching you can apply Clotrimazole ointment. At bed time you can take antihistamines. Your treating doctor may recommend ultraviolet light therapy and skin grafts to get rid of the white skin (hypopigmentation of the skin).
