What Is The White Substance In Circumcised Skin?

Hi, I've received a phimosis surgery (circumcision) a week ago. During my first few nightly erections most of the suture broke. My doctor said that it will be ok so I was properly rebandaging it each day for a week. Currently there is no pain nor blood but it looks very weird: between the top and bottom parts of the skin there is a white solid substance all around the cut. The skin itself wont seem to grow together at all. What is that white substance and should it be there? Is it a problem that the skin did not grow together after a week or should it be that way? I can make a photo of it if that's allowed by the site rules. Thanks in advance.
