What Is The Usual Dosage Of Drisdol?

I am filling out a med list for a patient in home health. they gave me a list of meds and his Drisdol is listed without how many times he takes per day. He is not available to ask at the moment and I was wondering what the ususal is so I can at least enter that number until I can reach him so I can close this section. I have to enter something so it can move past. I will be able to edit it after I can contact the pt ,

Madam,
With all good intentions I just can't tell you what to "guess" his dosage might be. Would you guess his medication?

The dosage depends on maintenance, repletion or a number of condition. Most clients take 1,000 IU of D3. Repletion can be by injection or 5,000 IU every day until repleted and then drop down to maintenance. Follow. Adjust as needed.

Supplements can be recorded on a master medication sheet that is updated prior to each doctor's visit. Keeping a running list of diagnosis is helpful for new doctors as well.
I hope these suggestions help. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
