What Is The Treatment For Sore And Swollen Throat?
After kissing this one guy my throat gets really swollen and is accompanied by a very mild sore throat and sometimes a fever. After a week the swelling goes down but not completely gone. It has been chronically swollen for 4 months now and whenever I kiss the guy it flares up. I went to the doctor and both strep and mono came back negative. Any ideas?
Nose and throat are anyway full of bacteria and the bacterial strain in the throat of your partner are not suitable to your throat hence you are getting recurrent throat infections on kissing. Obviously you have to stop kissing until you and your partner get diagnosed, investigated and treated properly.
Consult a doctor, preferably an ENT surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination, further investigations of throat, blood. Request your doctor to give your prescription based antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines. This is needed for both of you. Povidone Iodine gargles. Plenty of oral fluids. Avoid such close contact with your partner.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
