Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I ve been suffering from constipation problems for over 20 years now and its become progressively worse. Recently I went to relieve myself and couldn t so I began pulling out the impacted fecal matter only to notice that my colon was not attached to my rectum anymore but relieving itself as I pulled the mess from out of the inside of my behind (rectum). What kind of condition is this and is it treatable?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of progressively getting worst constipation over the last 20 years, you did manual removal and felt that the colon is not connected with the rectum. Well, such a condition does not exist. I would advise you the following: Get X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. You need an enema. Colonoscopy and manometry studies will confirm the diagnosis under the care of a Gastroenterologist. Take laxatives one by one to see which one is the best for you. Make a list of the foods and beverages that cause constipation and stop them altogether. Make another list of the foods and beverages that help you evacuation and take those only. Stress and anxiety play a major role and hence you have to keep these under control. If there is IBS get a proper diagnosis and proper treatment.
