What Is The Treatment For Running Nose, Congestion And Cough In A 1 Month Old?

I m having 42 days old baby.she is suffering from running nose,congestion and bad cough.m giving her mucolite and t minic. But I don t think it gives her relief.feels like her condition being worse.plz cud u suggest a method to give her fast relief n how long will it take to cure?

thank you for your query.
Nasal congestion is very common in newborns.
use of decongestants is not recommended in newborns.
Over use can lead to rebound congestion .

simply use NASAL SALINE DROPS 2 to 3 times a day , before feeds so that baby is comfortable while feeding.

also avoid situations that trigger congestion like AC over cooling or direct exposure, smoke in the room , furry beddings, dust .

Newborns usually do not have prominent cough as a symptom . May have occasional cough in common cold which will subside. If the coughing is sever it shows a more serious underlying condition for which you will need to visit a specialist.

If the baby is feeding well and active , please do not over treat , common cold will subside gradually.
