I am writing a health history to give to Professionals in the ER if I need to go. I had a rapid heartbeat and was given treatment in the ER. I cannot find the name of the treatment. I thought it was a dennison. It stops your heart but has a half life of 3 seconds. Can you give me a name.

Hi,

You said you were having rapid heartbeat. In medical terms we call it supraventricular tachycardia.

The drug you are referring to is called Adenosine and yes, it has short half life of few seconds. Plus it should be avoided in asthmatics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
