What Is The Treatment For Pain In Sternum And Difficulty In Breathing?
Hi. Approx 20 years ago I suffered an injury to the left shoulder whist at the gym doing chest flys. About a month later whilst stretching, I suffered what I can only call a loud popping sound from my 5 rib on my sternum, agsin on the left side, which resulted in excruciating pain in the same location. A small indentation appeared abouth the size of a 50 cent piece and from that day on I have ebdured a feeling of not being able to get enough air. I constantly sigh trying to bresyh but to no avail. Please help
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your situation and problem. You are having healed chest trauma. And healing can cause restricted chest wall movement. And this can be the reason for your breathlessness. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Clinical examination of respiratory system 2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). PFT will diagnose restrictive lung pathology. This will also tell you about severity of the disease. Chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises are useful in such conditions. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
