What Is The Treatment For Nausea And Discomfort Under Breastbone And Does Bentyl,zantac And Probiotics Cause Weight Loss?

My 13 year old son has been ill for the past 6 weeks. First, diagnosed with Mono and now has nausea waves and discomfort under his breastbone. He is on antispasmodic med Bentyl, probiotics, and zantac 75mg twice a day. He takes Bentyl before meals then Zantac after meals. at night, he takes the probiotics and bcomplex vitamin(only the last two days). He has lost significant weight from 141lbs. to 122lbs. in the past 6 weeks

The mentioned medication must niot be responsible for the weightloss you are talking of.
The symptoms of the nausea & discomfort under the breast bone in a 13 yr male most likly point towards the acidity & the posiibility of GORD ( gastro oesophageal reflux ) must be ruled out.
There sholud be correction be done in your order of medications . Tab zentac must always be taken before food then it can act better.
But considring symproms of yor sone I would like to suggest you the following prescription for your son Tab rabeprazole + domeperidone (20+30 mg) two times a day before food . Continue with the probiotics after food twice a day.
Antispasmodic should only be given if he complains of pain. Increase the lactic acid containing foods in diet such as curd , buttermilk etc.
The isuue of weight loss is not related to the medications but it is rather because of the deacresed apetite that your son might have because of the above discomfort.
