What Is The Treatment For Heartburn, Indigestion And Acid Reflux?

I think I got food poisoning from fried oysters. I vomited for about 8 hours, but after the food was all out it became clear like bile but was thick like mucus. When I was well enough to clean myself up, I went to brush my teeth and my tongue was black. I also have acid reflux that recently has been constant even with taking medication. I get heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux from eating a cracker or drinking water. Was this what caused my black tongue or the food poisoning?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of heartburn, indigestion and acid reflux, which could be due to gastritis and infection by H. Pylori bacteria. Need not to worry. Acid reflux occurs due to loosening of sphincters and passage of more acid in stomach. You should avoid oily and spicy food. I would advise that you get an upper Gastrointestinal tract endoscopy done to look for the severity of gastritis. You need to reduce the quantity of food taken per meal. While sleeping put two pillows under your head. Keep at least 2 hours gap between your food and sleeping time. you should take diet rich in multivitamins. This all will prevent reflux. Take Pantoprazole 40 mg empty stomach OD. Start taking proton pump inhibitors.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
