What Is The Treatment For Gastritis And Loss Of Appetite In A 70years Old?
hello doctor, My grand father is having the problem of having no apetite past 4 months, his age is around 78, he is not having bp, diabetic conditions, still he feels excess gas formation in the stomach. kindly suggest the treatment
Hi. Gastritis is not a common problem in an elderly person of 78 age. I would advise for an upper GI Endoscopy to rule out Gastric ulcer or Stomach Cancer as the most probable reason as you Grandfather is loosing the appetite also. Loss of appetite is one of the first symptoms in development of a Cancer and also loosing weight. He also has pre-existing medical disorders like high blood pressure- Hypertension and diabetes mellitus . It is possible these also must have not been under control leading to further problems of excessive gas formation. Also necessary is a CT scan of the abdomen and colonoscopy .
