I am a patient of UC frm the last 9 yrs. Started azoran recently abt 9 mnths ago. with 5 mg prednisolone and masacol 500mgx3 times, I was almost under remission. Doctors had told me to increase azoran to 100mg but could not due to low hemoglobin 8, didn t switch to 100 and continued with 50 mg. My wt is 106kg height 5 9 , 50 yrs male. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Male/50 - 5'9'' and 106 kg - Ulcerative Colitis for 9 years, started on Azoran 9 months ago, 5 mg of PRednisolone and Mascacol. Was under remission. Currently having very bad flare up in spite of increase in dosages of medicines to Prednisolone 20, Azoran 50 and Mesacol 1500...
I would advise you the following:
Try to find out the instigating and enhancing factors so that you get the proper control once you avoid these factors.
Consult your Gastroenterologist for a review of the clinical evaluation, examination and investigations so that the dosages can be adjusted well to give you the relief.
You may need an admission to the hospital so that the bowel can be given rest by giving intravenous nutrition, supplements of multivitamins, mineral and trace elements in therapeutic dosages.

I find this answer helpful
