What Is The Treatment For Fever After Operation For Femur Fracture?
My father got operated for femur fracture and doc used plates for the same. His age is 58 years. After 1 weeks of operation he is having fever daily in evening. when consulted with doctor he asked for blood test(TLC,DLC,ESR,HB,Urine culture). Report got ESR very high 82 and HB 8 (less than normal). Then doctor said it is due to blood given to you after operation may had infection. So now again number of antiboitics has been written. I am very worried about his health. Please suggest on it.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Two things can be suspected in your case. One is osteomyelitis and other is bone TB. An X ray should be taken to rule out osteomyelitis. TB also should be screened by doing mantoux test.Proper antibiotics for proper duration is needed for osteomyelitis. If TB is positive then anti TB drug regimen should be taken for the required time. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
