What Is The Treatment For Diabetes And Numbness In The Arms?

I have type 2 diabetes. I also had a heart attack in 2004. I am having problems with my hands and arms going to sleep when I lie down at night, usually every night. Could this be a circulation issue due to my heart? I have a stent that was implanted in 2004. I am 65 years old, and I have recently (July) started insulin in addition to pills. I am retired USAF, and am being attended by VA. I am getting very little sleep!

Hi..Thanks for using healthcaremagic
Peripheral neuropathy is a complication of diabetes.Pain and numbness are the features of neuropathy. But in diabetes neuropathy usually starts from the feet.
In your case we have to look for Cervical spine pathology and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome also.x-Ray cervical spine and Nerve conduction study will help .
nerve specific vitamins can also be tried..
