What Is The Treatment For A Lump In The Neck?

i went for a ultra sound scan yesterday,for lump on my neck lymph node i was told it was 2.5cm which before it was 5.8cm but i had a bladder infection and took antibiotics and it seemed to have taken the lump down,it may go back up again though, but i was told i will have to get a fine needle biopsy and that the lump will have to be removed, so why do i have to go through needle biopsy if the node is to be removed anyway

You have an enlarged lymph node. It can be due to reactive hyperplasia, tuberculosis, lymphoma, or metastatic carcinoma. You should go for fine-needle aspiration cytology or biopsy of that lump. It will give you an exact diagnosis. Then you should take treatment accordingly. You excision and treatment depends on the diagnosis. So it is necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
