Hi, Most of the corneal abrasions are usually minor and heal completely within 2-3 days. These rarely cause corneal ulcers or infection. Usually local cleanliness by flushing with clean water or saline solution and use of local antibiotic drops to prevent any infection are mainstay of treatment. For pain, oral analgesics may be given. However, if the symptoms like pain, swelling or watering from the eye becomes more or the symptoms persist for more than 4-5 days, consultation with an eye professional is advised and further management is to be done accordingly under their guidance.
