What Is The Solution For Pulled Muscle In Neck Which Hurts To Turn The Head?

I have pulled muscles in my neck before and it feels like i am on the verge of doing it again. My neck pain is right under my hair line. It is very tender and hard to turn to my right . turning to my left is okay. I have used a heating pad for the past 2 days but no true relief. What should i do?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
All you need to do is correct your posture habits, like appropriate neck position while working on computer, avoiding pillow while sleeping, or while making sudden movements. I assure you this discomfort will go away unless you do something to aggravate it in your routine. You can gradually start neck isometric exercises, which you can learn from a physiotherapist near you.
You may benefit from hot fomentation and frequent stretch breaks at work.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
