What Is The Severe Pain Under Rib Cage And Cramping?
im having a sharp pain under my left rib cage. feels like a severe cramp all the time. Its been going on for the past two and a half weeks. I went to the ER last week and they ran test and could not find anything. Any suggestions what you think this might be? Pain is not going away, very frustrating, Im a 46 year old Male. 5'9" 180 Lbs.
The pain could be - either in the abdominal wall, or intra abdominal.
To find out which of the two u have, in case of abdominal wall, the tenderness is superficial, whereas in intra-abdominal, the tenderness is deep seated. You can also perform the leg raising test (where you lie on your back and try to raise both your legs without bending your knees) to check. If in doing so you feel pain in the abdomen, then its abdominal wall pain. If it is abdominal wall pain, then take anti inflammatory plus analgesics accompanied by local hot compression and locally applied analgesic ointments.
If its intra abdominal, then its most likely to be IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)constipation type. You should take a fibre rich diet along with plenty of oral fluids. Also a mild laxative will help. In both cases take anatacids plus antispasmodics.
Hope this was helpful.
