What Is The Remedy For Severe Coughing, Stuffy Nose And Sore Throat?

My son is 10 years old. He was coughing and threw up in school. He developed a stuffy nose and sore throat. He felt weak. I took him to the doctor. They tested him for Strepp Throat and the flu. Both came back negative. The doctor concluded that it was a virus. After a week and a half, my son started feeling better. He seemed ok for two days and then felt sick again. He has bad headaches and stomach aches on and off. He vomits about once a day and feels lightheaded. He's been like that for 4 days now.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding severe coughing and stuffy nose and sore throat of your son. Though he had already being examined and treated as having viral infection, initially he felt little better but soon his symptoms came back along with headache and stomach ache and vomiting.

By co-relating all facts of medical history of your son it appears as he is suffering from upper respiratory tract infection with dyspepsia. Now to confirm the diagnosis and treatment these basic investigations are necessary-

1- X-Ray Paranasal sinuses.

2- X-Ray chest.

3- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

4- Gram's staining of throat swab.

5- Blood- CBC, ESR, Ser bilurubin, ser creatinin, SGPT,

With the help of inferences of above investigations and a thorough clinical co-relation one may reach to diagnosis that may be accordingy manage.

Till you are waiting for above formalities you may give following to your son-

1- Steam inhalation.

2- Tab Paracetamol.

3- Anti histaminic and decongestant.

4- Antacid with Domperidon.

4- Antacid with domperidon.

I hope above answers your query.

Regards.
