What Is The Remedy For Loose Motion When On OFM Syrup?

hi... from 2 days my baby has a loose motion , her age is 2 yrs 5 months.,she doesnt eat any solid food from 2 days.. she is dehydrated now,,,she did potty at around 11 times.... i gave OFM syrup...but loose motion is not controld..can u tell me how the motion will be control?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

I think she is suffering from Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE).
Since this is usually due to a virus and does not need antibiotics like OFM suspension.
OFM Syrup contains Oflaxacin and Metronidazole.
Since you have started, please complete the entire course.
Do not worry about the consistency of stools. It will be fine in few days.

Just be sure that she drinks well. You may give her plenty of fluids- vegetable soups, rice based porridge, ORS etc.
You may also give her probiotic sachets like Econorm about 1/2 sachet twice a day for 3 to 5 days.
She should be fine with these.

If abdominal pain is too much or uncontrolled loose stool , please visit your doctor- she might need some anti-spasmodic and IV fluids.
