What Is The Remedy For Headache And Nausea After An Injury?

I bumped my head really hard yesterday. I can remember hitting it but everything is a bit fuzzy for about an hour after that. Last night I started getting a major headache, I got really nauseous, and it felt like my nose was going to start bleeding (it never did though).

Well it has been over 24 hours now and my headache has not gotten better. I am still nauseous and my nose still feels the same. I am also now extremely tired. I am a senior in college and work an intense job.... I honestly have no drive to do any of my work today. I was up late last night trying to write a report for work and I barely got any of it written. I even called off work and missed class tonight (totally out of character for me)

I have issues with my local er in terms of totally unacceptable care not only with me but various friwnds and family members. Also, I do not have insurance (no pcp). I know you cannot tell em without actually seeing me but does this sound serious? Is there something that I can do from home to help my symptoms? I have been taking Tylenol and have an ice pack on my nect but nothing is helping.

To summarize:head trauma with what sounds like loss of consciousness, now with persistent, perhaps worsening headache & nausea.

If I was seeing you as one of my patients, I'd like to know the following:
- Age
- any vomiting, dizziness
- did you fall after hitting your head? if so what else did you hit?
Then I would examine you including a neurological exam.

If you were to present to me with the above complain, I'd be very concerned for a head injury (including a head bleed) or a concussion. I would take this serious.
I'd advise a patient to go to get evaluated by a physician or ED ASAP. You deserve a CT scan of your head/brain to evaluate for any brain injury or bleed.
Refrain from taking the following:
-NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, naproxen; aspirin as these may worsen any bleed (in case you have one)
- Tylenol is OK.

Hope this helps.
