Hi, I am sorry to hear about your pain. The pain of
fibromyalgia is difficult, but not impossible to treat. What I tell my patients is that you have to be realistic and know that we will likely never get the pain down to zero. Secondly, you have to think of what things can bring on the pain or make it worse- these include
stress,
anxiety,
depression and lack of physical activity. I think
physical therapy is a great idea. Read the book and see if you can find any other new things. Meanwhile here are my recommendations
1. Water or pool therapy- Often its very soothing because the water takes the weight off the joints and many patients report significant improvement in symptoms with that. You can ask your therapist about where it is available in your locality
2. Stress relieving/relaxation techniques-
Meditation and
Yoga are wonderful methods to decrease tension, take your mind away from pain and focus it on positive things. If you have not already tried it I highly recommend it
3. Pain specialist: This is an option if you have not already seen one- to discuss medications including trigger point injections, oral meds and patches.
Please let me know if that was helpful. If it was, please take a moment to provide a rating. Thanks!
