What Is The Remedy For Fever And Diarrhea In A 6 Year Old?
My 6 year old vomited at 3 am yesterday and was fine, he then had one episode of diarrhea at 3 pm yesterday. He ate and drank. He got an extreme headache, high fever and I gave him ibuprofen. About two hours later he still had fever and his headache was worse, I gave him cool cloths. This morning his fever was gone. He still had headache. I gave him breakfast, he had one episode of diarrhea today. Says his belly hurts near his belly button
Thanks for writing to health care magic. I can understand your concern. Monitor for signs of dehydration if he has further loose stool. They include 1. Decreased skin turgor 2. Increasing thirst. 3. Sunken eyes. 4. Irritability. 5. Drowsiness. 6. Decreasing passage of urine. Oral rehydration solution or any other solution containing salt and sugar should be given. Probiotics and Zinc prescribed by your doctor will be useful.
If he continues to have fever that could be because of several causes like dysentery or typhoid etc
In case of further dehydration the child requires Intravenous fluids
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care. Dr Y V Siva Sankara Murty M.D.(Pediatrics) Associate Professor of Pediatrics
