What Is The Remedy For Constipation?

I have always had trouble with constipation. I started taking some tablet from the health food store when I first realized I had constipation. That was about 40 years ago. Then I took per diem granules per my colon doctor. I took them every night so I could go to the bathroom. They worked great. I would only go in the morning and the rest of the day I was fine. They quite making the granules and the only thing that I found that would work was a dieter s tea. I still take that every night just so I can go to the bathroom without having to wait all day. I go once or twice in the morning with this tea. If I don t drink the tea, then I feel like I have to go all day. I tried not drinking the tea, but again I feel like I have to go all day. I go to the bathroom and nothing happens. I feel like I don t have any push in my system. I took antiboitics for approximately 20 years to clear up my cystic acne. However, my acne is back and I am considering taking Accutane. I also took that approximately 20-30 years ago. I didn t know at that time that I should have been taking some type of probotic. I drink about 6-8 glasses of water daily. I also exercise 3-4 times a week. Every morning I drink about 6 ounces of juice with a teaspoon of of psyllium . Then I drink at least that much water after the juice. I don t drink coffee or eat or drink any milk products. I don t like them. I am really pretty healthy except for this. I am 65 years old and I don t take any medicines. I have a colonscopy about every 5 years and have since I was 50 years old. At one time, I did have a few polyps and they were removed. That was about 9-10 years ago. I have to go every morning or I am miserable. Do you have any suggestions at to what steps I can try to help with this problem.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
In most cases lifestyle changes and diet are sufficient for improvement. It means : To make your poo softer and easier to pass: drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol, increase the fibre in your diet, add some wheat bran to your diet. Good fiber sources include bran and other whole grains found in cereals, breads, and brown rice, vegetables such as brussels sprouts, carrots, and asparagus, Fresh fruits, or dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, and prunes Beans. If there is no improvement then constipation may be caused by several issue. Second, you may at times need to try a laxative such as Fleet Phospho-Soda, Milk of Magnesia, or glycerin suppositories. If there wont be improvement on these measures, you should consider doing diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy, anal sphincter manometry and food allergy testing. In some cases it may be also sign of inflammatory bowel diseases tumors so it should be ruled out if symptoms persist.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
