Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I sprained my ankle 2 months back. At the beginning I was walking and did everything I needed. But gradually I felt little pain. Then the doctor told me to get off the feet. Now almost three week I am not using my feet. I am wondering how long it will take my feet for complete recovery. How can I do speed up recovery.
I have studied your case and I think that you must have either a cartilage damage or a ligament injury of the ankle. To confirm the diagnosis I would recommend you to get MRI of the ankle joint. This MRI will give us idea if there is any osteochondral fracture is there or if there is fluid collection in the ankle joint.According to that we can plan furthere management. usually these injuries heal with out any surgery. If there is fluid collection or any loose body is there in the joint than I would suggest to get arthroscopic surgery, in which through a key hole procedure these things can be corrected. Also if there is any ligament damage than that can also be repaired with a. small procedure. I hope this answer will be helpful for you.let me know of there is any other followup questions. thanks
