What Is The Recovery Time After Surgery For Prostate Cancer?

My husband was diagnosed prostate cancer a month and half ago. In These couple days he must to make the choice of treatment. He tends to surgery. But he wants to know which surgical method is more suitable for him: opened surgery or laparoscopic surgery. We heard that opened surgery will remove entirely prostate cleaner which will reduce the risk of the positive margin and reoccurrence. Is that true? (my husband’s prostate cancer tumor is about 13X23mm large but which is still inside of prostate.) In addition, my husband has diabetes. If he undergo open surgery, will it take longer to recover for him? Your early reply will be very grateful. Thank you. Shirley

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, actually if this is malignancy then the surgical treatment is entirely depends upon the stage of the disease and anatomical involvement and onco surgeon would be last judge and better to let it decide, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
