What Is The Reason For Mild Fever In Child?

Hi I have a 3 year old son that in the last couple of day has (at night) spiked a bit of a temp, he is up 15-20 times a night crying and in the morning he appears to have red skin (that is hot to the touch) and has a temp of approx 38 degrees. Once he is awake in the morning for a bit the red skin and being hotto the touch goes away. He is still not him self during the day as he appears to have no energy and is happy to just. He continues to drink fluids, have regular bathroom visits, and does eat although does not appear to be all that hungry. Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

I understand your concerns but don't worry. Most likely cause of these symptoms are self limiting viral infections which improve without any intervention. They need just symptomatic treatment.
So, give him acetaminophen for fever episodes which are more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. You may repeat the same dose after every6-8 hours if fever persists.

In case there is no improvement even after a week then visit a pediatrician for proper clinical examination and laboratory evaluation.

Hopefully this will help you.
Take care
