I injured my right knee in July of this year. It is now December and is getting worse every day. Serious pain every time I keep my knee in one position for more than a few minutes at a time. I can t walk up the stairs of my house without having sharp pain in my knee or it giving out and even at times locking up so I can t bend my knee at all. I had an MRI done on Oct 27th. The knee doctor I am seeing at the military treatment center in Virginia just keeps having me try different anti-inflammatory meds. My primary care doctor sent me to physical therapy for 8 weeks which didn t help at all although I am continuing the therapy at home. The physical therapist discontinued therapy because as she put it I already know how to do all the treatments at home. So she said there was no point of me continuing therapy in the office, when I can get everything on my own at home. I was in physical therapy for almost 4 years for my left knee which is finally doing great with no issues. Trying to figure out what treatment opinions I should talk to my doctor about. I am supposed to be starting a new job in March that I will be very physically active at so I need my knee back to normal by then. MRI results were Cartilage: Mild heterogeneous intrinsic increased signal identified within the patella apex and medial patellar facet. No evidence of focal thinning is seen. Definitive linar fissuring identified. Trochlear and weight bearing femoral cartilage are intact and unremarkable. Marrow signal: normal homogeneous signal characteristics. Joint space/Effusion: No clinically significant joint effusion. No evidence of synovitis or intra-articular body. There is a small ganglion cyst identified at the anterior inferior margin of the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus without complex features. The largest component measures 1.5 x 0.9 cm penetrate slightly inferiorly over the anterior tibial plateau margin. Impression: Findings most consistent with small ganglion cyst at the anterior inferior lateral joint margin situated just anterior to the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus. No evidence of associated meniscal tear with the remainder of the exam demonstrating only mild early chondromalacia patella of the apex and medial facet.
