What Is The Permanent Cure For Recurring Migraine For Years?
I have been suffering from severe migraine for the last five days. Though the pain subsides a little with paracetamol, the dull ache continues giving way to a blinding headache. How can I get some relief? This has been a recurrent problem for the last ten years. Age - 50. Sex Female My email id is YYYY@YYYY
Thank you for asking on HCM. If i am your consulting physician I would suggest the following: 1. Confirm from your history that it is migraine and rule out tension headaches. 2. besides paracetamol you can use diclofenac sodium, Naproxen and codogesic for severe pain ( Please consult your doctor for dosage). 3. For recurrent pains you can use sumatriptan ( again consult your doctor for dosage) it gives rapid relief in acute attack and also helps in prophylaxis. 4. Beta-blockers ( Inderal) can also be used for prophylaxis. 5. You can also try the hot/cold head band for pain relief it helps some people. Remember to take the pain killers in the first 10-15 mins of the onset of the pain, this is when it works best to control the pain. Once pain is established it gets difficult.
I hope you find this helpful.
