What Is The Painful Lump On My Scalp?

Yesterday while brushing my hair I noticed a small lump on the side of my head. At first I thought it was a tick but everyone who looked at it saw nothing but just felt the bump. It hurts to push on it and sleep on that side. It hasnt gotten any bigger but it came fast. My mother says its probably an ingrown hair. What could it be?

i thinks it would be sebaceous cyst, as in scalp it is much more common and mostly they are noticed incidently. however other possibilities has to be ruled out.
