Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi i had a pain which started in my right shoulder blade, on Sunday and then by Saturday it the pain was in both shoulder blades, by Monday i was unable to lift my head of the pillow due to the pain in my neck I was unable to turn my neck from side to side or bend it to my chest, what causes this?
As history indicates that there is Trapezitis. This may be due to nerve root entrapment as there is no head extension. A cervical spineMRI is suggested.
I will advise to take MRI of the neck, use a cervical soft pillow, hot water fermentation for now. Wait for the pain to come down.
Once it's bearable pain I will advise starting exercising the neck muscles to make it stronger to hold the spine in a neutral position.
Continue strengthening the neck muscles along with shoulder muscles.
Also me an active effort to keep the posture in control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
