What Is The Life Expectancy Having Undergone Triple Heart Bypass And Carotid Artery Surgery?

Hi, My husband had a triple heart bypass almost 2 yrs ago when he was 40 and shortly after carotid artery surgery. I was wondering what his life expectancy was? Prior he has had a level 4 skin cancer also... When he had his heart attack the doctor said usually 2% of the people do not make it off the table but his risk was like 10%. They showed me his arteries and they were very small...they said they look like a 80 yr olds. He is about 5 foot 10 and 163 pounds.

Hi
post by pass life expectancy is 10 years usually.
a stress thallium test is adviced for your husband every year, it will give a definite information about the patency of grafts used in by pass, if the grafts are patent you husband is well. senstivity of stress thallium is about 98% hence its advisablle every year specially in high risk patients.
From what you say it seems that your husband has multiple artery diffuse disease , hence a stress thallium will give the exact idea about graft patencyand prognosis of your husband
