Hello,

Your doctor has diagnosed the tear & soreness as anal fissure. Do continue to take the medicines you have been prescribed. Some anal fissures take a lot of time to heal, have patience.

Take warm Sitz bath twice or thrice a day & especially after bowel movements. Keep your stool soft by taking a lot of fiber in the diet & keeping yourself well hydrated.

You can apply topical lidocaine hydrochloride creams (Xylocaine) for relieve from pain. Do not strain during bowel movements.

Eternally applied Nitroglycerine (Rectiv) effectively promotes healing. Take all medications after consultation with your treating doctor as medications have side effects.

For chronic anal fissures, your treating doctor may suggest surgery, but recurrences may occur post-surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
