What Is The Effect Of Stopping Synthyroid After Complete Thyroidectomy?
My wife had a complete thyroidectomy three years ago. She decided to stop taking the synthroid late this summer against her family s desires and her doctor s advice. What can we expect to happen? Already her health is slipping. Will this kill her? What symptoms to expect? thank you

Thyroid hormone supplements (synthyroid) are essential following thyroidectomy. Thyroid hormone are very essential for normal body functioning be it basic metabolism to advanced functions.
I think your wife need to start taking it again immediately before she goes in to low thyroid symptoms. You need to convince her by making her aware about the importance of thyroid hormone for body.
