What Is The Difference Between The Testing Of HIV And Dengue?

Hi im 21 y/o Six months ago I started to become sexually active w/ only one man. After 2-3 weeks of becoming sexually active I experience chill,fever-high fever-,sweating,eyepain,muscle pain and rashes-at my back,arms,legs,stomache-. I had a bloodtest for Dengue-Blot test- and the result is positive(that time there is dengue outbreak in my country). And now im paranoid, there is HIV epidemic here at my country is it possible that the cause of what I experienced before is HIV not dengue? Is it possible to have a dengue false negative test? What is the different between the testing of hiv and dengue?

Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that both HIV and dengue are totally different virus. their pathogenicity and testing kits are totally different. Dengue is spread by mosquitoe bite and the HIV by contact with the body fluid. If you are sexually active I advice you to carry out the screening test of HIV for your partner. Also you do same for you. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Thanx. Dr. Arun Tank

Hi,
the symptoms you have given & with the positive dengue test , you might have had dengue.
symptoms of HIV Infection are also similar.but the blood tests are different.& no interaction between these two tests. you can be tested for HIV antibody test to know about hiv infection.
get tested with this simple test for hiv & get rid of your confusions.

Hi, dear. I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Your all symptoms are of dengue. So its mostly due to drngue.
Hiv and dengue is not at all related. In dengue we are testing for ig g and ig m antibodies. While in hiv we are testing antibodies again hiv antigen or hiv antigen itself
Both are totally different. No need to worry or confusing in that.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
