Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Norco 10-325 for chronic pain condition dr. changed to tylenol 4 what is the difference in the strengths and the effectiveness, they changed the medicine from Norco every 4 hours to tylenol #4 every 6 hours because dr. cannot write for the schedule 2 narcotics they do not have the extra licenses for Norco?
Norco contains two medications acetaminophen and hydrocodone (which is also an opioid/narcotic). Tylenol contains only acetaminophen. So, Norco is a stronger pain killer but may cause addiction. It is generally used for acute severe pain and can be later switched to safer treatments.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
I wish you good health.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
