What Is The Cotinine Test Threshold?

What is the cotinine test threshold for employment at Cleveland Clinic or Franciscan Health System? I see an answer stating 200 ng/ml but I believe the tests are more sensitive now. Would vacationing at a smoky casino a few days before test have an effect?

1. 200ng/ml is established as standard by the U.S. department of Health & human Services, DOT, WHO and SAMHSA and is used for determining smoking status and/or tobacco/nicotine use only. The test is not intended to diagnose any medical condition or ailment and is used for forensic purpose only.

PS. The threshold for passing/failing test is 200 ng/ml of nicotine. Levels of nicotine below this can't be detected in urine by cotinine test. It is a standard test and the threshold levels are same across all labs.

2. TIME is the only way to pass a urine cotinine test. Depending on the sensitivity of the particular test it can take up to 2 weeks or more to have a negative cotinine test.

Nicotine from any source: cigarettes, nicotine gum, nicotine inhaler, "E-cigarettes" or nicotine patches all will cause a positive cotinine in urine.
