Pelvic ultrasound with transvaginal shows dominant follicle in The right ovary...tiny amount of free fluid in the pelvis . Myometrium and endometrium are heterogeneous...am 52 yrs old..still ovulating..pain in right abdomen for last 6 months or longer. Any suggestions as to what might be occurring?
Hello, thank you for writing in to HCM. Certain things I'd like to know before getting closer to figuring what might be occurring. Do you also notice any vaginal discharge or blood stains after coitus Your symptoms show possibility of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Ovarian cyst with secondary infection, fibroid, polyps,Endometriosis or adenomyosis or simple hyperplasia of endometrium.
I'd suggest you to get an abdominal MRI along with a Pap smear cytology and serum hormonal study done done to rule out melignency and get back with the reports to us. till then you can start with antibiotics for possible infection( aerobic and anaerobic combination )with analgesics antiinflammatory.
