What Is The Cause Of Severe Headache After A Tonsillectomy?

my wife had a tonsillectomy conducted on 11/14. She is currently taking Roxicet for pain and amoxicillin. She woke up today with a severe headache and it is not going away. Is this type of headache normal after a tonsillectomy or from the Roxicet? She said this is the worst headache she s ever had, even worse than migraines she sometimes gets. Should we go to ER or is this normal after her procedure?

Hello,

Worst headache ever may indicate subarachnoidal hemorrhage, a condition not related to tonsillectomy or drugs adverse effects.

So, I think, you should go to the ER for this.

Imaging (CT scan) of the brain is necessary too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
