Hello and welcome to HCM, Coughing up yellow colored mucus can be due to infection in the throat or the lungs. Coughing of mucus mixed with blood can be due to some kind of bleeding in the throat or in the lung. You need to consult an ENT specialist for clinical examination of the throat/ Any lesion in the throat can cause irritation and bleeding. If there is no lesion in the throat, you need to consult your chest physician for chest examination- X-ray of chest and bronchoscopy to look for any lesion in the bronchi and lung fields.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
