Regarding your query (cause of cough), I would like to say that important causes for cough are- 1- Infection in upper / lower respiratory tract. 2- Allergic reaction in pharynx. 3- Post nasal drip (in cases of sinusitis). 4- Oedema and inflammation of uvula. 5- Asthma. Above are the most common causes of cough, each of above has got it s own clinical features and may be differentiated by clinical examination and investigations. In your case as your tonsillectomy had already done a months back, and your uvula is very much irritable, therefore uvulopharyngitis is the most probable diagnosis and this may be confirmed by clinical examination. Cause of inflammation may be infection or allergy so treatment may be accordingly plan. Regards.
