What Is The Cause For Irregular Bowel Movement And How To Train For Potty Session?
Hello doctor. I'm having serious bowel movement problems with my four year old son. He always passes stool in his diaper in standing position and highly irregular, maybe once in a week. Usually there is a little bit sticky stool in his diaper and maybe after 4 or 5 times the same way, before he actually passes off real solids. Today I tried making him sit on the potty and he just sat there on and off for couple of hours, crying aggressively and passing little drops of sticky stool. Please advise how to get him potty trained.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. If he passes stools once in a week it becomes hard and difficult to pass. Naturally he is afraid of using potty because of pain. In such cases you give plenty of water, high residue diet and fiber containing foods. You may use lactulose syrup 2 times daily and for immediate relief you may use Dulcolax suppository. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
