What Is The Cause For Bleeding When I Brush?

My teeth have been bleeding every time I brushed them for the past 6 months. It's getting worst, now they bleed if I press on my gum and sometimes I taste blood as I'm speaking. They bleed from the back not the front, and when I checked in the mirror, it looked like as if they're not brushed well. I brush my teeth every single day, what could this possibly be?

Bleeding from gum is suggesting that they are getting weak. Some time plaque deposited on back side of teeth also causes the bleeding. I would rethought to change your brush first. Do daily two time brush. Take vitamins c and lots of fruit juice. Avoid very warm or cold drinks. If thing does not improve show to a dentist.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nsah Bernard's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Gums bleeding could be a sign that you are a risk of or already having a gum diseases. However, persistent gum bleeding such as you are having could be a sign of a serious underlying diseases condition which requires further medical investigation. Some common conditions that may lead to gums bleeding include:
- Periodontitis which is often accompanied by dental pain. So this will rarely be your situation.
- Gingivitis/inflammed gums
- Any bleeding disorder
- Brushing too hard
- Hormonal changes during pregnancy
- Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
- Improper flossing
- Infection: Could be gingivitis or other mouth related infection
- Leukemia: Blood borne cancer
- Scurvy or severe lack of vitamin C
- Use of blood thinners: Will hardly be your cases, since I presume that you are not currently on any blood thinning medications.
- Vitamin K deficiency

In any case, you will need to see a doctor who can investigate further into the issue and provide some proper treatment.

Hope this helps
